The TWENTY-SIXTH CONVENTION for OTLS will be held in Las Vegas, NV. Nancy Lloyd has agreed to serve as Convention Chairman this year. The Chairman of the Board, Judith Sanders, will be available also. We would like for more people to volunteer to help at the convention. Richard Weinstein will once again serve as our Head Auctioneer.

. The Official beginning will be Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. and continuing until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2012. The Convention Committee has planned lots of activities, door prizes, fun, continued excitement and LIGHTERS enough to satisfy any collector! For Members who arrive prior to June 7, the OTLS Suite will be available for visiting - inquire at the front desk for OTLS Suite and/or Judith Sanders. For you who were at the 2010 Convention, I will have the same suite. Although my suite is non-smoking, I have a patio where you can smoke.
This year we are going to hold our Business Meeting (for everyone) at around 2:30 P.M. on Thursday. In the event you think you won't be interested in the business meeting, the first surprise of the convention will appear at the Business Meeting - by now you all know how I LOVE surprises! The Business Meeting shouldn't take longer than 45 min. If you are interested in attending the business meeting, try to arrive by 2:30 P.M. on Thursday. And just to further entice you - I am going to have a drawing for a special lighter at the business meeting - if you aren’t there, you won’t have a chance to win this lighter!!! This room will be posted in the lobby. After the business meeting, we will have a short break. The Get Acquainted Party (4:00 - 6:30), will also include a small auction.
We are pleased to announce Linda Meabon, Zippo Historian will be in attendance. We might even have another guest or two to interest you!.
The hotel chosen is the Tuscany Suites & Casino, 255 E Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89169. The local phone number is 702.893.8933. Please note below to use a different phone number for reservations. The rates are $35 Sun - Thurs. and $65 Fri & Sat. These rates are for single or double occupancy, and are good 3 days before and 3 days after the convention.
Call the Tuscany Room Reservations Department at 877-887-2261 and ask for On The LIGHTER Side (OTLS) group rates. Each individual is required to provide a major credit card for first night's room and tax deposit, which will be charged in order to guarantee accommodations. PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NO LATER THAN APRIL 30, 2012! IMPORTANT! In the past, many of you were late sending in your convention registration even though you had already made your room reservations - PLEASE BE PROMPT IN SENDING IN YOUR REGISTRATION TO THE OTLS OFFICE. Remember I need time to get name tags made and table tags.
THERE ARE SHUTTLES AT THE AIRPORT - JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET ON ONE THAT IS GOING TO TUSCANY SUITES & CASINO. THE SHUTTLES ARE FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE. THERE ARE ALSO CABS BUT THEY ARE MORE EXPENSIVE. THE SHUTTLES ARE OUTSIDE THE BAGGAGE AREA.
The hotel also has some other amenities arranged for us. We will announce some of those later. For you who were there before, there is a beautiful swimming pool. Bring a bathing suit! In fact if you don’t have a poolside room, I do - you can go swimming out my patio doors! Also there is FREE Wireless internet access in the Banquet & Meeting Area’s, Hotel Lobby, the Piazza Lounge and the Beachfront Cafe.

THE CONVENTION SCHEDULE IS FULL AND WON'T ALLOW MUCH SPARE TIME! For you who choose to come early, your Editor will be at the hotel by June 4 and will have lists of places you may want to visit. Please have your packages to his house no later than June 4, 2012 In the event you must ship materials for a function at the Tuscany, all package/box deliveries must be addressed as follows:

Your shipments should be sent to arrive no more than one week prior to your function. All packages and boxes received for individuals, attendees or vendors are subject to shipping/handling charges for the total weight of all materials sent as follows: 0 – 9 lbs Free of Charge; 10 – 50 lbs = $10; 51 – 100 lbs = $20 (for any heavier than this, contact Judith Sanders before shipping)
We will again this year send Convention Schedules out as you register. So as we receive registrations, we will send you a schedule so you will know where to be and at what time. The Displays will run from
Friday Morning 7:30 A.M. through 7:00 P.M. or later on Friday. We will assign a person to stay until the last one is out. The Displays will continue ALL DAY Saturday. We will again be hiring a Security Guard to remain ALL NIGHT with your lighters for their safety and your convenience.
For ANYONE coming to a convention for the first time, please bring a few of your special lighters (not for sale ) to "Show & Tell", as well as lighters you want to sell or trade. You may want to start LOOKING for duplicates to bring for trading purpose. Some of you have not been able to stay past noon on Sundays, however, I would like to mention there is a LOT of trading and last minute deals that go on in the OTLS Suite - if possible you may want to leave later Sunday so as not to miss this!

For you who haven't been to a convention before, we are a pretty casual group. Feel free to bring shorts, slacks, sandals, etc. Hotel has an outdoor swimming pool so bring a bathing suit! For OTLS activities wear whatever you want - ONE EXCEPTION - for the Saturday night dinner, it is requested that you dress up a little (dresses or nice pants suits for the ladies and slacks for the men).
The registration fees for the convention will be as follows:
Schedule of Convention Fees 1- Registration -- $110.00 -- includes a table, Saturday dinner/auction and all other attendance privileges. a. Family members and significant others -- $60.00 each - includes dinner/auction and full Convention admittance. b. Extra tables -- $50.00 each. c. Assistants - Friday $60.00 each / Saturday $30.00 each. Add Saturday dinner/auction -- $35.00 each. 2- Single-day member-buyer attendance a. Friday -- $50.00 b. Saturday -- $20.00 Add dinner/auction -- $35.00 3- Public - Saturday, 10AM-3PM only -- $3.00 each.
Most of you have heard we hold an Auction on Saturday night. This auction helps pay for "extras" for the convention and special club projects, such as our computer and paying our OTLS assistant. The lighters in this auction are contributed by various members. If you have a lighter you don't want, bring it! You are NOT required to contribute a lighter, and the lighters do not have to be expensive lighters! In fact, even if you don't attend the convention, you can contribute a lighter since the majority of the proceeds from the auction benefit EVERYONE IN OTLS! Even if you don't contribute a lighter, you will LOVE the auction and our WORLD FAMOUS AUCTIONEERS!

PLEASE RETURN YOUR RESERVATION FORMS BY APRIL 25, 2012. OVERSEAS & CANADIAN MEMBERS - IF YOU WANT ME TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS - PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO DEADLINES! On the registration form it is IMPORTANT to list all names in your party - for name tags, table tags, etc.!

> We have also been contacted by the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Bureau. They have furnished items for our Welcome Bags for many years. This year, they will again send some very nice items for our Welcome Bags.
There may be items I have forgotten to cover, but will give you any Convention Updates in the May paper. I would add, this is the our lighter convention of the year - if you aren’t able to attend, there won’t be another one until next year - you can sell 2 lighters (well, maybe 3) before June and make enough money to come to the convention!
